The killing of General Gordon, or simple known as Chinese Gordon, was a travesty for the world. It started a cycle of global tensions from then that are still affecting us to this day, and the reason simply was:-

General Gordon was a supremacist who didn’t like our people that much
A very proud General who would not bow his head to anyone

I prefer the latter. General Gordon is a hero to all of us Sudanese, and even to the Mahdi of Sudan who spoke of him very highly.

P.s. For those that are not familiar with the movie Khartoum, General Gordon would not surrender to being captured and got killed as a result of miscommunication and not rebellious disobedience by the Mahdi’s forces. The killing of the General caused Britain to send the infamous General Kitchener who butchered the Late Mahdi’s army , and then went on to Become the Talisman for the British troops in World War 1.

We all need to be appreciative and humble of who we are, only then we will be able to rise and shine in every challenge.
